{"id":35,"date":"2014-03-14T05:39:42","date_gmt":"2014-03-14T05:39:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vip4c.ca\/?page_id=35"},"modified":"2014-03-21T02:50:05","modified_gmt":"2014-03-21T02:50:05","slug":"p4c-epi-summer-institute","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/vip4c.ca\/?page_id=35","title":{"rendered":"P4C (EPI) Summer Institute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cPhilosophy for Children\u201d is sometime referred to as \u201cEngaged Philosophical Inquiry.\u201d This P4C or EPI Institute is run by Dr. Barbara Weber, a Associate Professor in the Human Development, Learning and Culture program at UBC and a co-director of the Vancouver Institute for Philosophy for Children.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of this seminar is to familiarize participants with different methods of facilitating engaged philosophical inquiry. How various forms of facilitation can be used in different learning environments will be explored. As well, the philosophical and psychological theories behind different practices will be discussed. Students will be given the opportunity to facilitate, and will be coached to find the facilitation style that best fits their needs and unique abilities.<\/p>\n<p>This 3-credit intensive program is valuable for teachers (and teachers-to-be), and education students wishing to create an educational environment that supports democratic inquiry and collaborative thinking, as well as philosophy students who are keen to wake to the deep and practical value of their discipline.
